Reflexology is a fantastically relaxing therapy which not only helps to reduce stress, but it also helps in bringing the body systems back into balance. This is very important if you are trying to conceive.

Fertility reflexology can be helpful for a range of issues that can impact on a person’s fertility such as:

  • Regulate cycle lenght
  • Hormone Imbalances
  • Endometriosis
  • Pre-menstrual Syndrome
  • Polycystic Ovaries
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease
  • Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
  • Stress related problems
  • Menstrual problems
  • Low sperm count

Ideally weekly sessions are needed to ensure the body is treated throughout the different stages of the menstrual cycle, this has a better chance of leading the body to pregnancy, this therapy can also be continued along side fertility treatments to aid and support the body.

As I also use Fertility Massage Therapy to aid with Fertility, there is an option to combine both therapies together, we can discuss this further during your consultation and treatment planning.

TRYING TO CONCEIVE TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS

Ladies: Alot of us assume that because we have a monthly cycle that it is functioning correctly, I did too. The best way to help in your trying to conceive journey is to learn about your body and your cycle as its different for each of us.

Blood tests are a great way of finding out whats happening with your hormones, if you have been trying to conceive for a while, I would suggest asking your doctor for the following bloods:

  • LH Levels
  • FSH Levels
  • Oestrogen
  • Oestradiol
  • Prolactin
  • AMH

These results will help to establish if your cycle is functioning correctly or if there’s an issue which might be preventing conception.

Taking your body basal temperature daily and logging the details on the fertility friend App helps you to;

  • Understand your cycle, (it helps to pin point exactly when ovulation occurs as lots of us don’t ovulate on the typical day 14)
  • Ensure you are having intercourse at the vital times of the month.
  • Helps to determine the lenght of your LH phase, to check progesterone levels towards the end of the cycle and ensure your cervical mucus is appearing at the right time of your cycle
  • It is also great for helping you feel like you are doing something.

Try to continue with exercise when trying to get pregnant, its a very stressful time so its important to make sure you are taking time out for you.

A healthy balanced diet and pre conception supplements are a must.

Men: Yes, you matter too!

Stress is a huge contributing factor in causing erectile disfunction, the stress levels in the body elevate the prolactin which effects the sperm quality so this treatment can be just as effective for men as for women.

Zinc – If you have a Zinc deficiency this can affect your testosterone levels. You can test this yourself at home, swirl a small amount of zinc around in your mouth for a few seconds then spit it out, if it leaves a metallic taste then this means there a deficiency present. This can be something so small but can be a factor in preventing conception.

Sperm – I know, you don’t want to think there might be an issue here but if there is, its best to know and try and do something to correct it if possible, so sperm analysis can help to tell things like how many are present in an ejaculate, how well they are moving and how well they are formed. this information is invaluable.
